Erik Hansen

“Erik Hansen – Esbjergs mørkemaler” (Erik Hansen – a dark painter) was published January 29th 2022 in Janusbygningen in Tistrup, Denmark.
It´s a book I have written about the art and life of expressionist painter Erik Hansen (1914-1970).

Although Erik Hansen was an original artist from a bygone era, I believe that his life and art, as described in the book, has such universal features, that many artists today will be able to reflect in it.

Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen has on their website posted photographs of their works for download and free use.
For an exhibition titled EXPERIMENTE (September 13 to October 3) in Brunswiker Pavillon, Kiel I have used some of those downloads.

A mixture of “Den sårede Filoktet” from 1775 by Nicolai Abildgaard, “Læsende dame” from 1925 by Peter Ilsted and “Bøgteræer i Ermelunden” from ca. 1924 also by Peter Ilsted.

A mixture of “Vinteraften i en skov” from 1853 by Vilhelm Kyhn and “Udsigt gennem tre buer i Colosseums tredje stokværk” from 1815 by C. W. Eckersberg.
